donating books and literacy materials

Thinking of donating your literacy materials to the Esmond Friends? Terrific! Before you pack up those boxes of books and other literacy materials, we respectfully request you take a moment to review what the Esmond Friends can and can not accept. Once you have reviewed the literacy donation guidance, use the Contact Us box below. Please be sure your donated items are secured in boxes or bags that are able to be lifted and transported without strain on our volunteers. 

The Esmond Friends will gratefully accept the following gently used and in good condition items:

• Hardcover and paperback books for all ages, ranging from birth to adult
• Comic books
• DVD's (movies and television series)
• CD's (music and audio books)
• Puzzles 

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept: 

• Any type of book that is in poor or unreadable condition, such as books that are missing pages or materials, ripped, stained, discolored, dusty, scribbled on or moldy
• Encyclopedias
• Dictionaries
• Thesauruses 
• Textbooks
• Cookbooks
• Outdated reference books
• Travel guides that are over five years old
• Audio cassettes
• VHS tapes
• Coloring books, activity books, word game books for any ages
• Magazines 
• Workbooks
• Study guides, test preparation guides
• Items not boxed or bagged
